Documentary Screening Organized for Women's Month
March 20, 2009
As a part of Women's Month, IPG affiliated graduate student, Leah Wickham, recently organized a special screening of Cargo: Innocence Lost, a shocking documentary unveiling the dark underworld of sex trafficking in the United States. Close to 500 people attended the screening. The film explores how sex trafficking has become a $9 billion a year industry and why it still remains a shrouded crime in the United States. Following the screening, a representative from the human rights agency, International Justice Mission (IJM), spoke on the complex issues surrounding sex trafficking and how concerned individuals could join counter-trafficking efforts. IPG congratulates Leah on the success of this important event.
