Graduate Student, Christine George, to Travel to Mozambique with Kona Bicycle Company
Christine George, Master’s student in Public and International Affairs, will travel to Chokwe,
Mozambique with a team from the Kona Bicycle Company in November. Kona, in partnership with Bicycling magazine, produces and donates Kona Africabikes to home healthcare workers in sub-Saharan Africa. These bikes allow healthcare workers to treat up to six to eight more HIV/AIDS patients a day than was previously possible. Earlier this year, Christine George organized a fundraiser for the VT Biketown Africa project that raised over $10,000. She will travel to Mozambique to see how her work has impacted the lives of workers and families in this rural area. She will also be a key part of the team helping to build new bikes and teaching healthcare workers how to ride and maintain them.
