Governance and Civil Society

Institute faculty working in this field study the conditions that are conducive to healthy civil societies both in the United States and abroad, as well as the relationships between civil society and effective and equitable democratic governance. We also explore the roles of nongovernmental and nonprofit institutions in public governance and in transnational networks.
